Dallas Hosts Tennessee and Amari Cooper Makes his Debut on MNF

The Dallas Cowboys made the biggest trade before the deadline looking to shore up the weakest part of their team. WR Amari Cooper was acquired from the Oakland Raiders for a first round pick and now he’ll make his debut with the Cowboys on Monday.

Their opponent is a Tennessee Titans team that has lost three straight after a promising start to their season.

Both Dallas and Tennessee have a lot in common in that they both feature some pretty strong defenses and have offenses who have struggled to score.

In Dallas’ case it’s a major role reversal as it’s been the offense that’s led the team for years while the defense does just enough to keep other teams at bay.

But the team released Dez Bryant in the offseason after he struggled the past couple of seasons to find chemistry with QB Dak Prescott. What Dallas was not counting on was the sudden retirement of TE Jason Whitten and as such the team has struggled to find its identity and make up for all that lost offense.

The plan was to go with a committee of receivers as opposed to getting a bonafide star, but it’s led to one of the worst offenses in the NFL.

Cooper has a lot to prove, as he simply hasn’t been that good in the past year and a half after taking the league by storm in his first two. He’s also coming off a concussion and has just two weeks to learn the offense for a Cowboys team that needs an injection of big plays.

Dallas is 3-4 on the season and those losses have been by a total of 25 points. They’ve lost two of their last three games and each of those was by three points with the offense having the chance to win in the late stages of the game and coming up empty.

Tennessee last played in London and it was a tale of two games. In the first part the Chargers were in control as they raced out to a 17-6 lead early into the third quarter. But Tennessee took over from there and scored a touchdown that had them trailing 20-19 with 31 seconds to go. Coach Mike Vrabel opted to try for the win and the team couldn’t convert the two-point conversion, thus handing the game to LA.

The team scored just 31 points in those three losses. QB Marcus Mariota had been dealing with a shoulder injury, but with the team coming off their bye, he’s no longer on the injury report.

Dallas is 26th averaging 20.0 PPG and 2nd allowing 17.6 PPG

Tennessee is 30th averaging 15.1 PPG and 3rd allowing 18.1 PPG

Dallas is -4.5 point favorites and the over/under is 40 points. The Titan cornerbacks led by Malcolm Butler, Adoree Jackson and Logan Ryan make this a tough assignment in Cooper’s first game to make a huge impact. This game should be about whose running game breaks through. I think it’ll do down to the wire. The Pick: Cowboys 24-21.
