Vegas Odds & NFL Predictions: Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Looks to Make it Two in a Row as They Host Buffalo

The Cleveland Browns, coming off an 0-16 season will take any wins they can get as they try to reset their culture. But last week’s 20-10 win over the Giants was especially sweet. Number one overall pick and anointed savior of the franchise Baker Mayfield looked very good as he went 11-20 for 212 yards and two touchdowns.

And the QB of the present, Tyrod Taylor was even better to start the game as he went 5-5 for 99 yards and 1 TD.

Rookie wide receiver Antonio Callaway looking to make amends after getting busted for pot possession did well, going 3-87-1. Jarvis Landry caught both balls thrown his way as well.

If there was one area clearly looking to improve, it’s the run game which averaged just 1.5 YPR on 33 carries.

The Buffalo Bills in the meanwhile dropped a 28-23 decision to the Carolina Panthers. That game had a little extra spice to it as current Bills and ex-Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin called out his former QB, Cam Newton the week before the game.

The two were seen together before the game started, but Benjamin refused to give him the time of day.

Meanwhile, the Bills had a rookie QB making his debut as well. Josh Allen did not perform as well as his contemporary as he went 9-19-116-1.

The two other QBs fighting for the starters job performed much better. Nathan Peterman – who threw five interceptions in a half against the Chargers when last we saw him last year- went 9-10-119-1-1. AJ McCarron in his debut with Buffalo after being a backup in Cincinnati for years went 7-10-116-0.

Benjamin put his money where his mouth was as he hauled in each of the four receptions thrown his way for 59 yards and one touchdown.

Taylor was the Bills starting QB the last three years in Buffalo and now gets a chance to take on his old mates. He’s already been anointed the starter in Cleveland, but if Mayfield continues to perform like he did last week. the pressure to put him in will continue to grow exponentially.

McCarron is expected to get the start for Buffalo in this one and play with the first unit after Peterman had his turn last week. The starter’s job is very much up in the air there, raising the stakes for the Bills.

Cleveland is -3 favorites in this one, but I think the fact that Buffalo will be able to roll three good to very good QBs for the whole game gives them the edge here. The Pick: Bills 24-20.
